Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track) - Positions VPA-COMP-2020-019 and VPA-COMP-2020-020

The Department of Computer Science at Memorial University invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, starting May 1, 2021. A PhD in Computer Science or related field is required at the time of appointment. Duties include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, research, and normal administrative responsibilities. Salary will be determined according to qualifications and experience, as stipulated by the Collective Agreement. The positions are subject to budgetary approval.

The Department is looking for two individuals with expertise in one of these areas:
• Fundamental research in machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, or evolutionary computing.
• Operating systems, parallel and distributed systems, or computer architecture.
• Visual Computing (including candidates doing research in areas such as image processing, computer graphics, computer vision and visualization

Successful candidates are expected to teach in the area(s) of their expertise, as well as fundamentals of Computer Science.

The Department is looking to increase its collaborations with other units of the University. Thus, interdisciplinary work and the potential to collaborate with current faculty members will be an asset. Applicants are expected to demonstrate excellent undergraduate and graduate teaching capabilities and to possess a strong research record with outstanding promise for future research.
