Student & Postdoc Advisory Committee (SPAC)

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, all in-person events have been suspended until further notice.

Event funding applications are still open and intended to support virtual events.

Travel award applications are also still open and can be used to cover the registration costs of virtual conferences.

The CS-Can | Info-Can student and postdoc advisory committee’s (SPAC’s) mission is to foster and represent the community of Canadian Computer Science post-secondary students and postdoctoral fellows. We believe that establishing a strong Canadian community is how we can best contribute to CS-Can’s vision to advance Canadian computing research, education and innovation.

SPAC had it’s very first annual CS-Can Student Symposium on June 2nd – 4th, 2019 at the CS-Can | Info-Can Annual Meeting. Follow us on Facebook to see the event pictures! These events included a poster presentation session, workshops addressing challenges facing the computer science community in Canada, keynote presentations by highly acclaimed 2019 CS-Can award winners (find the 2018 award winners here) and a student social: Laser Quest.

Do you have a great idea for an event that aligns with our mission? Please submit an application, we’d love to hear from you!

We also oversee the annual Canadian Undergraduate Computer Science Conference (CUCSC). The next iteration of this fantastic conference will be held at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Our previous conference was held in July 25th-27th 2019 at the University of Windsor Ontario. The CUCSC is the premier venue for undergraduate computer science and engineering students to present their work to a national community of undergraduates and regularly hosts a great line-up of keynote speakers along with a Women in Computer Science panel.
